George Fox grad program posters

A series of one-off posters I designed for various grad departments at George Fox University. The colors correspond to a series of brochures for each department. These posters hang in the George Fox Portland Center.

Global Issues poster

A poster I designed for the Global Issue forum held last fall at George Fox University. What a crazy-long title this thing has. I kind of think I did another design years ago that had an image torn in half and taped back together like this, but I'm not sure. I felt like it fit this event, which talks about reconciliation efforts in strife-torn Africa. Click to enlarge.

God of Antimatter lecture poster

I modified the 1888 Flammarion engraving as the illustration for this poster for George Fox University. Details about the upcoming lecture here. Click for a closer view.

A couple of food posters for George Fox

Here's a poster I designed for George Fox University's third annual Food Meet. Kind of an obvious treatment of the title, but oh, well. The toy truck has been the primary image on previous posters, so we retained it for this one as well. The Food Meet was fun and inspirational, by the way.

This is a poster for an upcoming faculty lecture at George Fox about the social implications of the local food movement. Should be good.

Taming of the Shrew

A poster I designed for an upcoming theatrical production at George Fox University. One unfortunate effect of the kittywampus layout is that it appears crooked no matter how it's hung.

George Fox posters

Posters for a couple of upcoming events at George Fox University. I designed the food one, and Karina Salgado designed the Theology of the Wild one based on a sketch I did, and I like how it turned out.

William Stafford poster

A poster for a George Fox University event celebrating the life and work of William Stafford, who was a poet laureate and peacemaker. I tried a version illustrating the featured documentary "Every War Has Two Losers" (below), but it got too busy. Plus wasn't room for the large amount of text that went on the poster.

Geez magazine's 5th anniversary

Geez is celebrating 5 years with the upcoming 20th issue, and there's a party, if you happen to be in Winnipeg. This poster offers a sneak peek of cover girl Laura Dunn, photographed by Joel Bock. I wish I could go to the celebration...

Geez civil disobedience essay contest

Poster/ad/image for Geez magazine's civil disobedience essay contest. Anyone can enter, but college and high school students are especially encouraged to write. Thanks to Laura for being my civilly disobedient model.

Empty bowls for Haiti

I had fun doing this hand-lettered logotype for the Empty Bowls event at George Fox University. The art department had a marathon bowl-throwing session, and there will be a fundraising meal where you get to choose and keep the handmade bowl you eat out of.

Food Meet 2010

I designed this poster and mini card for Food Meet 2010, a cool upcoming event at George Fox University that features local farmers and retailers that support the local food economy.

For the event name, I scanned type from an old metal type foundry sample book. The typeface is Steelplate Gothic Shaded, which is available digitally, but it doesn't have the same feel as the old letterpressed sample.

Happy birthday, Laura

A poster-sized birthday card I made for my girlfriend Laura. I used cut-paper stencils and a roller; it was fun to try something different. Fittingly, the paper I used is called Elephant Hide.

Triumph of Love poster

Poster I designed for an upcoming play at George Fox University. The play, an 18th century romantic comedy, has a convoluted plot that includes a princess dressing up as a man to defend her love.

The play is the second in the season that included Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Geez sermon contest II

Geez Magazine is having their second sermon contest; this is the announcement flyer/poster for it. I recycled an old drawing for this. Find out more about the contest here.

Pizzicato holiday promotion

Posters and pins promoting Pizzicato Gourmet Pizza's gift certificates for holiday giving. Designed and illustrated for Staccato Design.

Modern Millie poster

Poster I designed for George Fox University's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, a musical comedy set in the 1920s about a small-town girl who moves to New York City to become "modern."

Pizzato posters III

The third poster series I designed and illustrated for Pizzicato while working at Staccato Design. This series took the theme of the art of pizza, each ripped off of based on famous works of modern art.

University Players poster

Poster I designed for the University Players, a George Fox University acting group that tours the Northwest putting on shows.

Faculty art exhibit poster

This is a poster (and postcard) for an exhibit at George Fox University of the work of the art faculty of Willamette University. Confused yet? The artwork shown is a sculpture by Andries Fourie, and it was just begging for a head made out of a headline, so I obliged.

Pizzicato posters II

The second poster series I designed and illustrated for Pizzicato while working at Staccato Design, with copywriting by Tim Cobb. These posters featured new menu items at Pizzicato.
