I have designed a bunch of stamps for the letters section of Geez magazine over the years, and decided to make a poster of them. They're in black and white for the magazine, so I had to add color. Click to enlarge.

Geez 18 stamps

In the Geez body issue, there are these "notes to bodily self" that I designed like postcards, and got to create some fun stamps for them. The notes are from Chronic Babe, a networking forum for women with chronic illness.

Sticky love

This is a postage stamp I designed and submitted to the U.S. Postal Service recently. I noticed that a heart could be substituted for any of the letters in "love" and decided to design a stamp around that idea.

Geez stamps

I design a stamp for each issue of Geez magazine's letters page. Sometimes I use an actual stamp as a starting point, others are created from scratch. Most have some tie-in to the theme of the issue.

Fame is fleeting

Another old drawing around a postage stamp, this one featuring Charles Evans Hughes. This drawing comments on the fact that people are famous enough to get on a postage stamp at some point, but no one remembers who they are several decades later. Click to enlarge.

Grand Duchess Charlotte, overprinted

This postage stamp from the 1920s featuring Luxembourg's Grand Duchess Charlotte is overprinted with the word Officiel; I like how the dot of the "i" lands right in her eye.

Tin full o’ stamps

My dad collected stamps as a kid, and would tie up extras in little bundles with thread. I have this old tin full of the bundled stamps.

Saturday sketchbook: Elvis stamp

“The king upon his throne.” I stuck an Elvis postage stamp in my sketchbook and drew on and around it to tastefully commemorate his place of death.

This 1993 stamp is the most collected of all time, according to the U.S. postal service, with over 100 million saved.

Cool stamps

I am a fan of old printed ephemera, including postage stamps. These stamps from 1942 are perforated diagonally so you can make a 2 centavo stamp into two 1 centavo stamps. Smart design.

The header for my blog features another piece of ephemera close to my heart: my identity card as a child (I was born overseas).
